Committee of experts, stakeholders on UCC soon- CM Dhami

The chief minister of Uttarakhand Pushkar Singh Dhami has reiterated the commitment of his government to implement the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) in the state and preserve its culture. Speaking during a Samwad programme organised by Panchjanya at his residence on Sunday, he said that the state government has taken up an important step in the direction of implementing UCC in Uttarakhand, a promise the BJP made to the people of the state before the assembly elections. He said that the first cabinet meeting of the government took a decision to constitute a committee of experts for implementation of UCC in the state. Dhami said that soon a committee of legal experts, retired judges, prominent members of society and other stakeholders would be constituted which will prepare the draft of the UCC in the state. He said that it is very important to preserve the culture and peace in the state and for it is necessary to ensure that trouble makers and anti-social elements are not able to enter the state. Dhami added that he has ordered the police to start a comprehensive campaign of verification of the citizens in the state.

The CM Dhami said that during his visit to Kedarnath on November 5, 2021 the Prime Minister Narendra Modi had said that this decade would be of Uttarakhand and the state government is committed to make Uttarakhand a leading state of the country by the year 2025. He claimed that the state government is making every possible effort for all round development of the state and for this it is receiving complete cooperation from the union government. The CM said that this year lakh of pilgrims are expected to visit the Char Dhams and claimed that many times more pilgrims are expected to Char Dhams in next ten years than those visited till date.

The CM said that the state government would promote self employment in the state and efforts are being made in this direction. He said that the process of recruitment in the government sector is being expedited. He added that the unemployed are being encouraged for self employment opportunities and the state government is undertaking many schemes in this direction. Terming Uttarakhand as the centre of religion and spirituality, the CM said that his government is promoting tourism in the state. He said that the natural beauty of Devbhoomi Uttarakhand attracts tourists and tourism activities are being promoted in the state. Dhami said that since Uttarakhand is a strategically important state many initiatives have been taken by the state government for preventing migration in the border villages.
