Panchayat representatives honoured for commendable work

On the occasion of National Panchayati Raj Day, Sarpanchs from across the nation were felicitated for commendable works done by their Panchayats at a programme organised by Sanguine We Care Welfare Society here on Sunday. Speaking after felicitating the Panchayat representatives, Women Empowerment and Child Welfare minister Rekha Arya said that coordination with all the linear departments is vital in the Panchayati Raj system. She spoke about the role of her department in enabling Panchayats to fulfill their goals.

Addressing the gathering, Forest and Technical Education minister Subodh Uniyal said that such functions are good as they motivate the Panchayat representatives doing good work. Stressing on the importance of water conservation, he said that all Panchayats should also focus on restoration of natural lakes. The Women Empowerment and Child Development secretary Hari Chandra Semwal, former joint director of Panchayati Raj, DP Devradi and others also expressed their views on the occasion.  Tourism additional director Poonam Chand gave a presentation on homestays as a means for augmenting income. Other speakers in the programme informed the gathering about various aspects including the sustainable development goals.
