CM announces welfare scheme for children orphaned by Covid

Chief minister Tirath Singh Rawat announced the Mukhyamantri Vatsalya Yojana for the children who have lost both their parents to Covid-19. Rawat said that the state government will fulfil various basic requirements of such children including education and training for employment till they reach the age of 21 years. The state government will provide Rs 3,000 per month as cost of living allowance to each child orphaned by Covid in the state.

Further, rules will be made so that nobody has the right to sell the ancestral property of such children till they reach adulthood. The district magistrate concerned will be responsible for this. The chief minister further said that five per cent horizontal reservation will also be provided in state government jobs to the children who have lost their parents to Covid-19. In addition to this, Rs 3,000 cost of living allowance will also be provided every month to every such child who lost the sole earning member of his or her family to Covid-19, added Rawat.
