While the Centre is insisting on vigorous vaccination to arrest the rising graph of Covid-19, the Uttarakhand is left with no covid vaccines. As per the data received from the state health department, 91.17 lakh of the state’s people have got the first dose while 87.33 lakh people have got the second dose and the number of people who have got the booster dose is 22.91 lakh.

With the Covid-19 figures rising in many states, the Centre is stressing on sample testing, observation and vaccination. But the fact is that the state does not have stocks of either Covaxin or Covisheild while people are visiting the health centres in large numbers for the booster dose.

Asked about the situation, the state secretary health R Rajesh Kumar said that they had asked the Centre for Covid vaccines. He said that soon the state would get one lakh covishield vaccines. When the vaccines become available the vaccination would resume, he added.
