Cashless healths cover for employee from Jan 1

The process of making golden cards for cashless health cover has started in all the districts of the state.

After a long wait, more than 2.5 lakh state government employees and pensioners would start availing the benefit of the cashless health cover from January 1 next year. The process of making and dispatching of the golden cards for the cashless health cover provided by the state government health scheme to the serving and retired employees of the Uttarakhand government and their families has started in the districts of the state.

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the state health authority, Arunendra Singh Chauhan told The Pioneer that the process of making golden cards is going on at a rapid pace in all the districts. He expressed hope that the cards would be prepared within one month.

The secretary health, Amit Singh Negi has directed all the heads of the departments to ask all the drawing and disbursing officers (DDOs) to validate the data uploaded by the employees on the IFMS portal. This would expedite the process of making cards. It is learnt that thousands of employees have not uploaded the details of their families on the IFMS portal. It is acting as an impediment in the process of making golden cards.

The unlimited cashless health cover for all the employees and pensioners would start from January 1, 2021.

It is worth mentioning here that the state government had decided to merge the existing U- health card scheme to cover over 2.6 lakh state government employees and launch it on the occasion of the state foundation day (November 9) in the year 2018.

However procedural delays on part of the state health department coupled with the objections of employee unions on different provisions have resulted in delay in start of the scheme. The premium for the scheme would be deducted from the salary of the employees. A sum of Rs 250 per month would be deducted of the employees having pay level I to V.  Similarly a deduction of Rs 450 per month would be done from the salaries of employees on pay level VI. The employees on pay level VII to XI would have to shell out Rs 650 per month while the employees on pay level XII and above would have to pay Rs 1000 per month for the scheme. In case of both husband and wife being the employees, contribution from only one (having higher pay level) would be taken.
