The Uttarakhand Congress has accused the state government for failing miserably in controlling the spread of contagion of Covid-19 and providing treatment to those infected with the disease. The Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president said that the situation is very grim and it could be understood by the fact that the death rate in the state has exceeded the national average. The recovery rate has witnessed a decline of 23 percent and the disease is claiming lives at an alarming pace in the state, he said.
In a letter written to the chief minister Tirath Singh Rawat, the PCC president said that the state government should focus on increased testing to contain the virus. He also suggested that the number of oxygen supported beds and ICU beds should be increased. In the letter the PCC president has also expressed concern on delay in commencement of vaccination for the people between 18 to 45 years in the state. Expressing anguish over the tragic incident of Roorkee where lives were lost in a hospital due to non availability of oxygen, Singh said that the government should inform people about the measures taken by it to increase the supply of oxygen and the steps taken to prevent black marketing of life saving injections and medicines.
