The chief spokesperson of Uttarakhand Congress Garima Dasauni has staked her claim for the party ticket from Tehri Lok Sabha seat. The BJP has reposed faith in the sitting MP Mala Rajya Laxmi Shah from Tehri and the Congress party is yet to announce its candidates in the State. The crucial meeting of the screening committee of the Congress in New Delhi is scheduled on March 6. Ahead of this meeting Dasauni has thrown her hat in the ring from Tehri. She said that the people of Tehri have been striving for a dedicated and hard working representative for the last many years and considering this desire of the electorate she has staked her claim. “If the party leadership feels appropriate then I am ready to contest Lok Sabha election from Tehri,’’ she said.

Dasauni said that though Mala Rajya Laxmi Shah is MP from Tehri, she has done nothing for the development of the area despite being repeatedly elected from here. She said that the MP should tell what is the status of the village adopted by her.

Dasauni demanded that the MP should come out with a white paper on the works initiated by her and the money spent on them.  She said that the MP kept silent when the government snatched the rights from the Tehri dam displaced.  Dasauni added that the MP also paid no heed to the problems of the people residing in the periphery of Tehri reservoir. Launching a barrage of issues and the apathetic attitude of the MP, the Congress leader said that she kept silent when an SC girl in Uttarkashi was raped. She said that the hospitals of Uttarkashi and Tehri districts are reeling under acute shortage of doctors and other medical staff but the MP did  nothing to address the issue.
