Govt to open two Atal Adarsh Vidhyalayas in every block

Take inputs from experts, sportspersons and general public should be taken for the new sports policy: CM

In an important decision, the chief minister Trivendra Singh Rawat has directed the education department to set up two Atal Adarsh Vidyalayas (AAV) in every block.  He also directed the officials that the suggestions of experts, sportspersons and general public should be taken for the new sports policy. The CM gave these orders during a meeting with education and sports minister Arvind Pandey and senior officials of education and sports department at state secretariat on Monday. He said that the AAVs should be set up while fulfilling the high standards so that the poor children residing in the rural areas are able to have access to quality education. He suggested that options of both Hindi and English medium of instruction should be provided to the students of these schools. The CM said that special emphasis on spoken English should be given in these schools and they have science laboratories and other necessary facilities. The CM was informed that a total of 174 schools have already been earmarked for AAVs and facilities of virtual classes are available in 108 schools. Rawat said that use of local architecture and material should be used in construction of AAVs. The officials presented the design of the proposed AAV at Thano in Dehradun. In the meeting it was decided that Khel Vigyan Kendra should be set up to promote use of technology in sports. 

CM directed the officials to present the final draft of the sports policy by incorporating suggestions of general public and experts before the state cabinet. He opined that the policy should be designed in such a manner so that the talent from rural areas get more opportunities. He added that the private sector should be promoted to enter the sports arena and children are prompted to come out of the world of TV and mobile and hit the sports ground. CM said that more sporting events should be added in Khel Kumbh and the special provisions are made for the girls in the new sports policy. He said that provision for ‘Chief Minister Player promotion scholarship’ should be made for children between eight to 14 years and a single window system should be set for resolving problems of the sportspersons.

The meeting was attended by secretaries R Meenakshi Sundaram, Brijesh Sant, education director R K Kunwar and other officers.
