BJP’s Tehri and Garhwal candidates file nomination

Anil Baluni and Mala Rajya Laxmi Shah filed their nomination papers as Bharatiya Janata Party candidates from Garhwahl and Tehri constituencies respectively on Tuesday. The party’s State election in-charge Dushyant Kumar Gautam said that on the basis of the hard work of the party workers the party candidates are sure to win the election by a margin of five lakh votes each.

The Tehri candidate of BJP filed her nomination first accompanied by a crowd of supporters and party workers. Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, BJP State president Mahendra Bhatt and the party’s election management committee convenor and Rajya Sabha member Naresh Bansal accompanied the procession of the candidate. Members of the general public and musicians welcomed the procession at various spots along its route. Dhami wished Shah in advance for her (expected) victory from the Tehri constituency. Interaction with the media, Shah said that the public are happy with the works done by the government headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. She said that the BJP had given her yet another opportunity to serve the public as Modi’s representative. Shah said that under Modi’s leadership, she will attempt to facilitate unprecedented level of development in her constituency.

Later in the day, Dhami and Union minister Smriti Irani along with the party’s State in-charge Gautam addressed a rally held in Pauri in support of the Garhwal candidate Anil Baluni. Addressing the gathering, Dhami said that considering PM Modi’s leadership the party is bound to win with a greater margin than it did in 2019. The CM informed the gathering about the various infrastructural development and other works executed in Uttarakhand under Modi’s leadership. He also spoke about the major steps taken by the State government including the implementation of the Uniform Civil Code in Uttarakhand.
