Tuesday, 12 March 2024 | PNS | DEHRADUN

Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation for the Rudrapur bypass section in Uttarakhand on Monday. This was one of the 112 national highway projects worth Rs one lakh crore which were launched across the nation by the PM on Monday.

The 21 kilometre long Rudrapur bypass section between Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh will be constructed at a cost of Rs 1,052 crore under the Bharat Mala project in hybrid annuity mode.

Speaking on the occasion, the Prime Minister noted the change from the culture of holding programmes in Delhi to holding big programmes in other parts of the country. He said that today the nation has taken another big and important step towards modern connectivity. Emphasising the change of speed in implementation of projects, the Prime Minister said that in less than three months of 2024, projects worth more than Rs 10 lakh crore have been either dedicated to the nation or foundation stones have been laid for them.

Modi emphasised the transformative impact of infrastructure development, highlighting the shift from problems to possibilities. He underscored the significance of converting challenges into opportunities, a hallmark of his governance.

Attending the programme virtually in Dehradun, cabinet minister Ganesh Joshi said that various important projects like the Char Dham Yatra road, Delhi-Dehradun expressway, Indo-Nepal connectivity project, Kedarnath and Hemkund-Lokpal ropeway projects have been started in Uttarakhand to facilitate last mile connectivity during the past 10 years under PM Modi’s leadership. He thanked PM Modi and the Union minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari for the Rudrapur bypass section for which the foundation was laid on the occasion. This bypass will consist of two road over bridges, six small bridges, flyovers and two rail over bridges along with one flyover. Rudrapur is a prominent automobile hub with more than 1,300 companies established in the region. The construction of the Rudrapur bypass was started earlier on January 12 and is scheduled to be completed in two years. Joshi said that the construction of this bypass will decrease traffic load in Rudrapur and enhance connectivity between Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh which will boost the logistics sector and facilitate further development of the industrial and commerce sectors.
