The Bharatiya Janata Party and Congress have questioned the logic and sincerity behind promises made by AAP leader and Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal in Dehradun on Sunday. The BJP state president Madan Kaushik said that alluring poll promises and gimmicks of AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal will not work in Uttarakhand. He said that Kejriwal had lied in Delhi, to the nation and now in Uttarakhand. He said that Kejriwal who had promised free electricity in Delhi should explain what is surcharge, energy charge and fixed charge in the electricity bill and why it is charged there. The condition of drinking water is similar as water is being supplied in tankers in the national Capital. “Except in Delhi, the people did not give AAP a chance in any state which is why he makes false promises and tries to lure people with assurances of freebies. The reality of Kejriwal and Delhi government was exposed during the Covid pandemic. Delhi was known for taking even Uttarakhand’s quota of oxygen, dumping four times its oxygen requirement, black marketing and highest number of infected and death rate. Living with a nationalistic thinking and self respect, the people of Uttarakhand will not be influenced by Kejriwal’s gimmicks and AAP will face the same fate it has faced in other states,” said Kaushik.

Meanwhile, the Congress state spokesperson Garima Mehra Dasauni termed the promises made by Kejriwal hollow. “Some months ago the Delhi deputy CM Manish Sisodia had declared Ajay Kothiyal as the party’s CM candidate in Uttarakhand but Kejriwal avoided that question here. How the AAP will stick to its promises in the future is doubtful as it has started taking u-turn at the beginning. Kejriwal had come to Uttarakhand to tempt the people with the promise of free electricity ahead of the polls whereas he has not fulfilled all promises made to people of Delhi. Having come to power with the promise of Lokpal, it has not been able to constitute the Lokpal in Delhi in seven years,” she said. Dasauni questioned AAP’s silence on Uttarakhand specific issues. She said that Kejriwal had invited frustrated members of other parties to join the AAP which shows that the party lacks candidates to contest from the 70 Assembly constituencies.
