In latest news from Dehradun, the State agriculture and farmers welfare minister Ganesh Joshi flagged off 25-member team comprising farmers from Chakrata, Sahaspur and Kalsi in Dehradun district on a three–day training trip to Dr Y S Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry in Solan, Himachal Pradesh to learn techniques of intensive and very intensive apple farming. In his address, Joshi said that the apple farmers of the State need to learn the latest apple farming techniques to boost production, packaging and marketing. Improvement in qualitative and quantitative production of apple is an imperative for Uttarakhand, the minister said and added that it would help enhance the farmers’ income and arrest the trend of migration.
