Govt giving priority to development of border areas: Dhami

Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has said that the State government is giving priority to the development of the border areas. He was speaking at Munsyari festival-2022 at Johar club ground at Munsyari on Monday. He said that Munsyari region is one of the major centres of tourist attraction and the State government is committed to the development of the area.

In the programme, the CM said that the government had made 66 announcements for the development of the area out of which 32 have been fulfilled and efforts are being made to fulfil the remaining declarations soon. He said that the Munsyari Festival is growing in popularity and it is now being recognised as an international festival. The CM said that the sacred land of Johar is not only replete with natural beauty but its history is also very rich. He said that there are very few places in the world that are compatible with Munsyari in natural beauty. Dhami announced a sum of Rs eight lakhs for the festival on the occasion.

 He also declared that the Munsyari would be made a Nagar Panchayat and Eklavya School would be opened in the town. He said that the State government is committed to the development of every sector under the leadership of Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi and he is consistently working for the development of the border areas and villages. He said that the PM believes that border villages are the first and not the last villages of the country. The CM said that PM has made an appeal to the pilgrims to spend at least five per cent of their travel budget for buying local products and it would strengthen the economy of the State and would provide a national and international recognition for our local products. The district panchayat president of Pithoragarh Dipika Bohra, MLAs Fakir Ram and Harish Dhami and others were present on the occasion.
