MLA alleges false cases being registered against party members

Congress MLA Anupama Rawat along with party leaders and workers reached Bahadarabad police station and sat there on dharna on Thursday, in protest against the action taken by the police after the stone pelting on the police party at the counting centre in Bahadarabad .MLA Anupama Rawat alleged that the police have registered false case against Congress workers under pressure from the BJP.

She said that after the completion of the counting work in the Inter College located in Bahadarabad after the Panchayat election, everyone was sent from the centre by the police, but after some time more than 100 people supported by a candidate reached the centre and they pelted stones on the police personnel there.  During this, a constable had also suffered serious injuries, after which the police had registered cases against the accused under the relevant sections.  MLA Anupama Rawat and MLA Ravi Bahadur went to Bahadarabad police station to court arrest, daring the police to arrest them while alleging that false cases are being registered against them to put pressure on their party workers.

Rawat said that ever since the BJP has returned to power, people and Congress members were harassed especially in the district Panchayat elections and all the more if they are Congress MLAs. Stating that the BJP has violated democracy, she averred that all had seen that earlier the winning candidates of the Congress were later declared losers. The certificates of the winning candidates were withheld for two to three days. She alleged that false cases were being lodged against those who did not bow down before the BJP. On Wednesday, BJP leaders reached the homes of three Congress leaders living in Ferupur and talked to their children, she said. Stating that an atmosphere of suppression has been built in the area, the MLA alleged that false cases have been registered against more than 100 Congress workers in her constituency. They have been booked under various sections except murder, she added.
