With the help of the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), the Badrinath Kedarnath Temple Committee (BKTC) has started work on treatment and maintenance of the Badrinath temple’s Sinh Dwar which has developed minute cracks. The task began after ritual prayers in the temple.

Last year, the BKTC chairman Ajendra Ajay had requested the State administration for repair of minute cracks in Sinh Dwar and walls of the Lakshmi temple along with light water leakage in the middle of the Sinh Dwar. He had also held detailed talks with the ASI additional director general (Conservation and World Heritage) Janhavi Sharma in this regard.

The ASI had sent its team to check the Sinh Dwar in October 2022 and the team had ascertained the presence of light cracks in the door structure. The BKTC media in-charge Harish Gaur informed that the ASI had earlier placed glass tiles to ascertain correct evaluation of any changes in the dimensions of the cracks. The ASI checked again and found that there was no major change in the cracks. Now the ASI has started repairing the right side of the door and both sides of the Sinh Dwar will also undergo treatment.
