Agrawal seeks approval for Doon metro neo DPR

Minister discusses various urban development issues with Union minister

The State’s Urban Development minister Prem Chand Agrawal raised various issues of the State while meeting the Union Housing and Urban Development minister Hardeep Singh Puri in the national Capital on Thursday.  Agrawal sought approval for the detailed project report of the metro neo project in Dehradun, funds for Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) and central contribution for Swachchh Bharat mission (Urban) DPR cost. Agrawal informed the Union minister about the urban development works underway in Uttarakhand and thanked the minister for the development works being carried out in the State under the Centre’s leadership.

Agrawal also submitted a list of demands to the Union minister. He informed that a metro neo project is proposed in Dehradun for which two elevated corridors with a length of 22.424 kilometres and 25 stations are proposed. The estimated time for completion of this project is 2025 at an estimated cost of Rs 1,852.74 crore. He requested the Union minister for approval to the DPR of the project. He further demanded that funds for first instalment for 956 new homes and increase of 216 homes under the beneficiary based construction component’s 53rd CSMC under PMAY (Urban) and funds for two other projects should be released. He also requested that the central contribution for solid waste management DPR for Chaukhutiya and Shivaliknagar local bodies should be released.  Further, the provision of vehicles and equipment for collection and transportation of garbage should also be approved in the solid waste management DPR for 11 newly constituted local bodies. Puri assured Agrawal that positive action will be taken regarding the issues raised by him.
