Four men nabbed with two tiger pelts

The Terai central forest division special operation group and Uttarakhand special task force nabbed four persons with two tiger pelts on Thursday. The divisional forest officer Abhilasha Singh informed that based on tips from informers, the joint team had been trying to ascertain the location of the accused men for the past one month.

Acting on the intelligence on Thursday, the joint team caught Haridwar resident Banti Nath, Punjab residents Ramdhari, Shyam Lal and Haridwari. The authorities seized two tiger pelts and two motorcycles from the accused. Haridwari is the son of notorious wildlife smuggler Totaram. According to officials, the nabbed accused were being questioned in the Laksar area of Haridwar. The matter is sensitive and related to national interests, they said.

According to sources, acting on tip offs, the joint team started chasing the accused from Bajpur Doraha area and reached the forest area of Laksar in Haridwar where the four were finally arrested by the authorities.
