The Pauri district police nabbed accused Gaurav from Bilkhet in connection with the alleged rape of a minor girl of Manyarsyun Patti. The arrest was made late on Friday after the case was transferred from the revenue police to the regular police.
According to information provided by the police, a local woman of Manyarsyun Patti which falls under the revenue police had lodged a first information report in the revenue police post of East Manyarsyun Patti on February 5 stating that a man Gaurav had raped her minor girl. The revenue police registered a case against Gaurav under section 366A/ 376 of the Indian Penal Code and 5A (II)/ 6 POCSO Act. As the case pertained to the alleged rape of a minor, the Pauri district magistrate transferred the case from revenue police to regular police on February 9. The Pauri senior superintendent police instructed sub inspector Priyanka Negi to constitute a team to take immediate action and arrest the accused. Acting on a tip off, the police team arrested 23-year-old Gaurav from Bilkhet late on Friday.
