The noted Bollywood film producer Vipul Shah has applauded Uttarakhand’s new film policy, terming it as film-friendly and convenient for producers and directors. He expressed his appreciation during a meeting with the joint chief executive officer of Uttarakhand Film Development Council Nitin Upadhaya regarding his new film project to be shot in the State.

Shah mentioned that the new film policy for 2024 being implemented by the Uttarakhand government has created a buzz in Bollywood due to its favourable nature. He also stated his willingness to shoot his upcoming comedy suspense film entirely in Dehradun and Mussoorie. Shah’s team will be in Uttarakhand for the next five days to scout shooting locations.

Upadhaya said that the State government is going all-out to make Uttarakhand an attractive shooting destination for filmmakers.

The new film policy includes provisions such as exemption from fees for shooting in government departments (except protected forest areas) and subsidies of up to 50 per cent of the production expenditure with a maximum of Rs two crore for regional language films. The policy also covers short films, documentaries and web series for subsidies, aiming to promote Uttarakhand as an appealing shooting location.
