AAP leader Mann lures farmers with slew of promises

The senior Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and Member of Parliament (MP) of Punjab, Bhagwant Mann said that the party will not let the central government impose the three farm laws if it comes to power in Uttarakhand after the assembly elections. He stated that the farmers will be paid Rs 50,000 per hectare on damaged crops like it is done in Delhi.

Mann stated during an interaction with the media in Udham Singh Nagar on Monday. He asserted AAP will not allow the imposition of farm laws in the state. He said that these laws are like death warrants of farmers which must not be amended but repealed. He promised in his second announcement that wheat/ paddy and sugarcane will be purchased at Rs 2,500 and Rs 400 per quintal respectively.  He added that the AAP government would pay the farmers Rs 50,000 per hectare to recover from the loss caused due to damaged crops.

Mann also promised that when in power the AAP will pay full payments within 15 days of sugarcane purchases and restart closed sugar mills within 90 days besides opening five new modern sugar mills across the state.  Making his last announcement, he said that the farmers will receive an uninterrupted and free power supply and all the old electricity bills will be waived off. Mann said that both BJP and Congress have failed to work for farmers’ development in the state in the past 21 years despite being the dominant parties. He said that AAP will fulfil all of its promises once it wins the election next year.

It is pertinent to mention here that the Punjab MP has started its three-day visit to the Kumaon region from Monday. He also participated in the road- show Kisan Sankalp Yatra on Monday evening and addressed the people of Jaspur and Kashipur. The president of AAP’s election campaign committee Deepak Bali and others were also present during the road show.
