A 65-year-old man Mehal Singh was shot and killed in broad daylight at Kashipur in Udham Singh Nagar on Thursday. The Kashipur Superintendent of Police (SP) Chandra Mohan told The Pioneer that the two unknown men shot at Singh on Thursday morning around 8 AM when he was at his home. He said that the police have analysed the murder spot, recovered the CCTV footage and have formed a team to investigate the murder.
It is being said that the deceased was into the mining business and was receiving threats from members of the mining mafia who allegedly killed him on Thursday. However the SP Chandra Mohan stated on the speculations that the police have started the investigation and it would be too soon to say anything without gathering concrete evidence on the matter.
