In latest Dehradun news, as per the direction of the Uttarakhand transport directorate, the challan-related SMSs being sent from the Smart City camera would be sent to the violators of the traffic rules in Hindi as well as in English. The State traffic directorate has taken this initiative after taking cognizance of the letter written on this matter by an LLB student from Manduwala, Dehradun. Speaking on this matter, the traffic director Mukhtar Mohsin said that he had written to the chief executive officer of the Smart City Ltd and ASP traffic Dehradun to see to it that such challans are sent in both Hindi and English.
It is learnt that a law student Md Ashique wrote to the traffic directorate to make sure that the challans related to traffic rule violations should be sent to the errant persons both in Hindi and English languages. Such challans are being sent only in English till now. A large section of the people here being unable to read English, they fail to understand that challans have been imposed on them and when, how and where they are to pay the penalty amount, the law student wrote in his letter.
