In latest news from Uttarakhand, as the first pipe has been drilled into the collapsed tunnel in Silkyara in Uttarkashi district with the help of the newly installed American auger machine airlifted from Delhi, the technical team members assisting the rescue operation expressed the hope that the workers stuck inside the tunnel since Sunday would be enabled to come out soon. After the heavy machine was installed at the site, it started working to drill an escape route for the stranded workers.  Expressing satisfaction over the progress in the rescue mission, the in-charge of the rescue operation Colonel Deepak Patil said that the American augur machine has proved very helpful being much more advanced than the old one that had been put into use initially. “This machine is working quite fast,” he said. It is further learnt that given the gravity of the situation, the Army and the Air Force personnel have been roped in in the rescue operation. Meanwhile, the chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that with all the rescue agencies working in concord, the operation to pull out the trapped workers was going on in full swing. “Things are a little difficult but the workers are in contact with the rescue personnel through walky talkies and all of them are safe,” he said.
