Uttarakhand police will use drones equipped with high definition cameras for surveillance purposes in famous tourist locations during the New Year’s celebrations. All station in-charges have also been directed to make elaborate security arrangements to keep strict vigil over the movement of any potential anti-social elements under their respective police stations. The additional director general (ADG) of police, Law and Order, V Murugesan stated this on Tuesday while talking about the police preparation to ensure people indulge in New Year celebrations without causing any disturbance to law and order.

He said that some tourist places of the State like Mussoorie, Nainital, Dehradun and Haridwar attract a large number of people for New Year celebrations, which usually increase the chances of untoward incidents due to the presence of some anti-social elements. Considering this, police will use drones equip with high definition cameras for surveillance purposes in all such tourist places, said the ADG. He said that sufficient force will be deployed in all locations where crowd gathering is expected across the State. The police department would also deploy specialised PAC in tourist locations. He said that the police will also take action against any violation of law by an individual or establishments like hotels and restaurants in the name of celebrations causing disturbance in law and order.

“We have made all arrangements to ensure safe New Year’s celebration in all districts. I also appeal to all locals and those visiting the State for celebrations to celebrate the New Year without any violation of law. The police will take stringent action against such anti-social elements affecting law and order,” said Murugesan.
