The district sports office will be organising a district-level selection trial in Dehradun today for the State athletics competition. District sports officer Nidhi Binjola informed that the Chamoli district sports office will be organising a State athletics competition on October 13-14 at the sports stadium in Gopeshwar to encourage sportsmanship among the children. The competition will be specifically for under 19 boys of scheduled tribes. The competition will include various athletic events such as long jump, shot put and discus throw, she added.
Binjola further informed that the Dehradun team will also be participating in this competition. A district-level selection trial will be conducted on Wednesday at the Parade Ground to select the team. It is mandatory for the players participating in the district-level selection trial to bring their birth certificate. High school pass students must also bring a photocopy of the certificate, scheduled tribe certificate, one colour passport size photograph as well as a permanent residence certificate, she added.
