Says no to practice of sycophancy, asserts he won’t compromises in work

The newly appointed president of Uttarakhand Pradesh Congress Committee Karan Mahara who officially would take charge of the PCC on April 17 has asserted that his new team would be much smaller than the previous one. He said that the Congress leadership has asked him to make no compromises. Talking to the media persons here on Wednesday, Mahara said that the new PCC would be a small but effective team of party workers. He said that though he has not started deliberation, one should be sure that the new PCC would be a marked departure from the past when a jumbo team consisting of hundreds of leaders existed. In a clear indication to the party leaders, Mahara said that sycophancy would not be tolerated and the party leaders should work to earn any post in the party. He said that he is thankful to the party leadership for having chosen him to lead the party at such a tough time. The Congress leader added that he means business and would not make any compromises. On the question of discontent among the party leaders and MLAs, Mahara said that is mere speculation and has no substance. He said that he is in touch with all the leaders and there is no discontent. Mahara brushed aside the rumours that the senior MLA Harish Dhami could part ways with Congress and offer his seat to chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami. He however added that all the elected MLAs know it pretty well that they have contested the election of the symbol and name of the party and joining the other party would be an insult to the mandate of the people.
