The Bharatiya Janata Party state president and Haridwar MLA, Madan Kaushik met chief minister Tirath Singh Rawat demanding that the markets be opened in the state considering the drop in new Covid-19 cases and the demand of the business fraternity. Kaushik said that due to the efforts of the government and various sections of society, there has been a considerable drop in the number of new Covid cases in the state.

Traders are facing livelihood issues due to the markets being closed for a prolonged period. He said that when Covid cases were rising, the business fraternity came forward and voluntarily closed their shops. Now with the traders demanding reopening of the markets, the government should allow the opening of the markets with observance of the Covid guidelines. Kaushik said that opening the markets regularly will prevent unnecessary crowding while also proving convenient to both the public and the traders.
