Tackling pandemic : Health dept trains surveillance officers and epidemiologists

To effectively tackle the probable third wave of the pandemic of Covid-19, the state health department started three day training for the district surveillance officers and the epidemiologists from Tuesday. The training is being organised under joint aegis of the National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), health department of Uttarakhand and World Health Organisation (WHO). Speaking at the inaugural session, the health secretary Amit Singh Negi said that the health services are being strengthened at the level of Primary Health Centre (PHC) and Community Health Centre (CHC) in the state. He expressed confidence that the state health services are ready to face any challenge.

The director of NCDC, Dr Sujit Kumar gave a detailed presentation on management of the pandemic and its present scenario. He assured that every possible help would be provided to Uttarakhand.

In her address the director general (DG) health, Dr Tripti Bahuguna expressed hope that the surveillance officers and epidemiologists would implement the guidelines being given in the training sessions in their respective districts.

The nodal officer of Integrated Diseases Surveillance Programme (IDSP), Dr Pankaj Kumar Singh said that for real time data reporting and monitoring, the use of integrated health information platform is being made in Uttarakhand.
The Vice Chancellor (VC) of the HNB Medical University, Dr Hem Chandra Pandey and faculty members of the Government Doon Medical College (GDMC) also took part in the workshop.
