STF arrest interstate smugglers with 1,500 injectables

The Anti Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) constituted under Uttarakhand State Task Force (STF) arrested two inter-state drug smugglers with 1,500 injectables from Haridwar late Thursday night. The senior superintendent of police of STF, Ayush Agrawal said that the ANTF arrested two accused Prince Kumar, a resident of Amroha district, Uttar Pradesh and Karamat Ali, a resident of Ranipur, Haridwar who were bringing 1,500 banned injectable drugs to sell in Haridwar. The accused were travelling from UP in a bike which has been seized too, added the SSP. He said, “A case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered against the accused for carrying 1,500 illicit injectables worth lakhs of rupees. The authorities are investigating them besides looking into their criminal history.” He said that both accused might also be associated with a drug network and STF is investigating every angle of the matter.  He said that the STF is taking all possible initiatives against drug smuggling across the State. He said that the state level ANTF along with STF and police teams have been taking action against illicit drugs under the drug-free Devbhoomi campaign of the State government. He said that STF will also start the process of confiscating the property of all such accused who have earned it through smuggling drugs.
