Second consignment of 92500 vaccine doses arrives

The second consignment of the Covid-19 vaccine provided by the union government to Uttarakhand arrived at the Dehradun airport Jollygrant on Wednesday. The consignment has 92500 doses of the Covishield, the vaccine developed by Oxford University- AstraZeneca and manufactured in India by Serum Institute of India (SII). 

The state had received the first consignment of 1.13 lakh vaccines on January 13. Expressing happiness at the development the Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat has said that we will definitely win the war against the Covid-19. He expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and union health minister Dr Harshvardhan for providing second consignment of vaccine to the state.

In the second consignment of 92500 doses, Dehradun district would get maximum 22500 vaccines while Haridwar would get 15000 doses. Almora would get 5500, Bageshwar 3000, Chamoli 2000, Nainital 9500, Pauri 6000, Pithoragarh 4500, Rudraprayag 2000, Tehri 6000, Udham Singh Nagar 8500 and Uttarkashi 3500 doses of the vaccines.

Out of 92500 doses, 84560 would be administered in the health workers of Uttarakhand whole 2330 and 3100 doses are for central government health workers and armed forces health workers respectively.

In Uttarakhand a total of 102 sessions have so far been held and in them 6119 health workers have been vaccinated with the first dose of vaccine. Meanwhile the union government has given some relaxation in the precondition for vaccination. Now the message from the Covin portal to the beneficiary’s phone number would not be mandatory for vaccination.  The Chief Operating Officer (COO) of the state Covid-19 control room, Dr Abhishek Tripathi said that the beneficiaries can get inoculated with vaccine even if they don’t receive any message. He however added that the name of the beneficiary should be in the data of vaccination.
