Schools closed for 2 days after 2 leopard ambush deaths in 24 hours

In latest news from Uttarakhand, two children being killed in back to back leopard ambushes, the people living in the Khirsu/Srinagar region of Pauri Garhwal district are a scared lot. While the angry villagers are blocking roads, demanding the forest department to eliminate the man eaters the administration ordered two-day closure of all government and private schools located in the affected region. While the first incident occurred at a Gawrad village  in Khirsu block when a leopard mauled to death an 11-year-old boy Ankit the second incident occurred a day later when a four-year-old Ayan was taken away by a big cat in the Glass House area of Srinagar. The forest department officers said that they were trying by all means to capture the man eaters at the earliest.  Aside from installing five camera traps, a cage has been set up in Garward village while two cages have been set up in Khirsu block, they said.
