Public health more important than revenue, says CM

Stating that he is more concerned about the health of the people than about revenue, chief minister Tirath Singh Rawat ordered the closure of liquor shops daily at 2 PM along with other non-essential shops. The decision was taken considering the rising number of Covid cases in the state. Whatever action is necessary to check the contagion will be taken by the government, stressed the CM.

It will be recalled that as part of measures aimed at breaking the chain of transmission in the state, the state government had ordered the closure of all non-essential shops at 2 PM daily. However, the liquor shops were kept open along with other shops providing essential commodities.  The state government has now ordered that the liquor vends will also close at 2 PM. The chief minister said that revenue loss is bound to happen if the liquor shops are closed early. However, he is more concerned about the health of the people than the revenue generation, stressed Rawat.
