Protest march against Agnipath mere formality- BJP

Thursday, 30 June 2022 | PNS | Dehradun

The protest march of senior citizens headed by senior Congress leader Harish Rawat against the Agnipath scheme was more of a formality. Stating this, the Bharatiya Janata Party State media in-charge Manveer Singh Chauhan said that the Congress and other parties have been traditionally opposing any scheme introduced in national interest and there is nothing new in this. The Congress and its allies are turning their face away from reality and confusing the youth.

Chauhan said that the opposition is raising hue and cry regarding the Agnipath scheme whereas the response to these false allegations has been given befittingly by more than two lakh youth who have applied within one week in the Indian Air Force under this scheme. “The Congress has been playing the politics of misguiding the public by spreading lies on all issues for a long time. The protest rally of senior citizens headed by the Congress is part of this strategy. The Congress and other opposition parties are purposely ignoring the encouraging number of applicants under the scheme for IAF. In only three days, more than two lakh applications were received for 3,000 Agniveer positions in the IAF whereas the last date of application is July 5, which means that the total number of applicants will total to many lakhs,” said the BJP State media in-charge. He further said that the Congress which is stating that the scheme will weaken the armed forces and soldiers stalled the modernisation of armed forces for three decades and termed the purchase of weapons and bulletproof jackets unnecessary, putting the life of the soldiers in danger.

The Congress claims to be alert for national security but the reality is that during its term in the Centre, the Defence minister had stated in the parliament that works to enhance the strategic strength of the nation at the borders should be avoided.
