Sitar player receives star musician award from London

In latest news from Uttarakhand, the sitar player Harshit (16), a resident of Nainital and a class 10 student of Lakes International School, Bhimtal, has been honoured with the Annual Star Musician Award by the London Young Musician Organisation while his mentor Amrit Kumar has been honoured with the Special Teacher Award for teaching. Harshit participated in the online competition six months ago and more than 700 youths   participated. In all, 113 participants were successful in the competition and Harshit scored 106 out of 120 marks on the basis of which Harshit was honoured with the London Annual Star Musician Award.

To recall, Harshit was earlier awarded a gold medal by the London Young Musicians organisation under the guidance of Amrit Kumar. Apart from this, he was honoured with at least 12 awards, including Bal Pratibha Samman, Gandharva Bhushan Award and Kumaon’s Best Award.

Harshit gave the credit of his achievement to Amrit Kumar, grandfather Suresh Kumar (sitar player) and parents.
