The preparations for the famous Jhanda fair of Dehradun have started. As per the tradition, a team of devotees under the mentorship of the head of the Shri Darbar Sahib, Mahant Devendra Das headed for Arrayanwala, Haryana on Wednesday morning.  On reaching Arrayanwala the old flag mast was brought down with religious fervour. The holy pole was bathed with milk, curd, ghee, butter and Gangajal. Large numbers of the devotees were present on the occasion.

It is pertinent to mention here that as per the tradition, the priest of Shri Darbar Sahib had left for Bara Gaon, Haryana on Monday (March 18) along with the Hukmnama (order) of Sajjadanashin (spiritual superior of the shrine) of Shri Darbar Sahib, Dehradun. On arrival of this order the Sangats (devotees) start their march towards Dehradun.

The Manager of Jhanda fair organizing Committee, KC Juyal informed that the preparations of the fair are going on at full swing.

He said that from March 26 the process of arrival of ‘Sangat’ devotees from India and abroad will gain momentum.  On March 30, the Shri Jhande Ji (the holy flag pole) will be raised marking the beginning of the month-long fair.
