Plans being prepared for tributaries of Ganga: Dhami

Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that river-centric master plans are also being prepared with the cooperation of various departments for old cities established on the banks of the Ganga river for the revival of its tributaries. Meeting the targets set earlier under the National Mission for Clean Ganga (NMCG) in Uttarakhand, some more proposals have also been sent to the NMCG for the cleanliness, purity and unrestricted flow of the Ganga while some other proposals are being prepared for the tributaries of the Ganga. Dhami said this while attending the second meeting of the National Ganga Council at Kolkata on Friday. The meeting was addressed virtually by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The CM informed the participants in the meeting about the efforts being undertaken in Uttarakhand for the cleanliness and purity of the Ganga.He said that under the Arth Ganga model presented by PM Modi in 2019 for linking the Ganga with livelihood and development, the Uttarakhand government has done commendable work in various areas. Considerable work has also been done for forestation and tree plantation in the areas along the Ganga in the State, he said.
