As part of measures to check the surge in Covid-19 cases, the state government has appointed three secretaries as nodal officers for three tasks related to the pandemic.

Secretary in-charge Niraj Khairwal has been made the nodal officer for ensuring uninterrupted electricity supply to all the oxygen manufacturing plants in the state. Under no circumstances will the power supply to these plants be disrupted. Secretary in-charge Vinod Kumar Suman has been made the nodal officer for ensuring sanitisation and cleaning arrangements in all the urban local bodies in the state. Elaborate sanitisation work will be undertaken on every Sunday in every urban local body.

Similarly, secretary in-charge HC Semwal has been made the nodal officer for ensuring necessary cleaning, supply of food items and other essential arrangements in rural quarantine centres and Covid care centres for natives returning to Uttarakhand. In the order issued by additional chief secretary Radha Raturi, the home secretary has also been directed to appoint senior police officers as nodal officers or various important tasks.

These include providing adequate security and regular monitoring in all government and private hospitals/medical colleges experiencing crowding due to Covid-19, ensuring Covid appropriate behaviour in markets and other public places, implementing the standard operating procedure issued by the state government at the state borders for travellers and natives entering Uttarakhand and ensuring observance of guidelines issued by the health department for home isolation and Covid care centres. The nodal officers appointed for these four tasks will ensure effective action in coordination with the State Disaster Response Force DIG.
