No respite- heavy to very heavy rain likely in parts of State today

Respite from rough weather for most of Uttarakhand appears to be one day away as the State meteorological centre has issued a warning regarding the possibility of heavy to very heavy rainfall likely to occur at a few places with extremely heavy rain at isolated places in Nainital, Champawat, Udham Singh Nagar and Pauri districts on Wednesday.

The centre has also issued an alert regarding the possibility of heavy to very heavy rainfall likely to occur at isolated places in Rudraprayag, Chamoli, Almora, Bageshwar and Pithoragarh districts. Heavy rain is also likely to occur at isolated places in Uttarkashi, Dehradun, Tehri and Haridwar districts today. Thunderstorms accompanied with lightning and intense/very intense spells are likely to occur at isolated places in the State today. In addition to this, light to moderate rain/thunderstorms are likely to occur at most places in the State’s districts.

The provisional State capital Dehradun is forecast to witness a generally cloudy sky. Few spells of light to moderate rain/thundershowers are likely to occur, one or two of which may be intense/heavy in some areas. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be about 28 degrees Celsius and 23 degrees Celsius respectively.

The maximum and minimum temperatures recorded in various places on Tuesday were 27.4 degrees Celsius and 22.6 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun, 32.2 degrees Celsius and 26.4 degrees Celsius in Pantnagar, 18.2 degrees Celsius and 15.9 degrees Celsius in Mukteshwar and 19 degrees Celsius and 16.5 degrees Celsius in New Tehri. Dehradun recorded 16.6 millimetres rain, Mukteshwar had 26.8 millimetres and New Tehri had 21.6 millimetres rain while there was 112 millimetres in Bharsar, 111 millimetres in Satpuli, 94.5 millimetres in Rikhnikhal, 81 millimetres in Nainital, 75.5 millimetres in Thalisain and 68.5 millimetres in Rudraprayag.
