Mayor inaugurates anti-spitting campaign Chooko Mat Thooko Mat

The Dehradun mayor Sunil Uniyal ‘Gama’ flagged off an anti-spitting campaign ‘Chooko Mat Thooko Mat’ from the Municipal Corporation of Dehradun (MCD) premises to raise awareness against spitting in public places in the city on the occasion of World Tuberculosis Day on Thursday. The campaign will be run by the organisation Saare Jahan Se Achcha in the city to raise awareness among the public about how spitting in public places can lead to many major concerns including several diseases. The mayor said that every citizen must be aware of the ill effects of spitting in public places that can also cause the spread of communicable diseases like tuberculosis and Covid-19. He said that the corporation has been raising awareness among locals against spitting in public and this campaign by the founders of Saare Jahan Se Achcha foundation Preeti Raja and Raja Narsingham, who have worked in various states on the issue, will certainly help to create more awareness across the city. The mayor also appealed to the public to avoid spitting in public places and raise their voice if they find others doing it.
