The maximum temperatures are near normal at present. However, the State meteorological centre has forecast that the maximum temperatures are likely to increase gradually and reach five to six degrees Celsius above normal at a few places around June 12. This comes when the maximum temperatures have once again started to climb after remaining lower than normal for a few days due to spells of rain in the recent past.

The meteorological centre has forecast that light to moderate rain/thunderstorms are likely to occur at isolated places in Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, Chamoli districts and mountainous regions of Kumaon on Tuesday. Apart from this, dry weather is likely to prevail in the remaining districts of the State today.

The provisional State capital Dehradun is likely to witness mainly clear to partly cloudy skies. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be about 36 degrees Celsius and 20 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun today.

The maximum and minimum temperatures recorded in various parts of the State on Monday were 36.7 degrees Celsius and 22.4 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun, 37.1 degrees Celsius and 22.8 degrees Celsius in Pantnagar, 23.6 degrees Celsius and 14.5 degrees Celsius in Mukteshwar and 25.4 degrees Celsius and 17.6 degrees Celsius in New Tehri. Light to moderate rain was reported in some mountainous regions.
