The Dehradun police nabbed a 48-year-old Noida resident woman for allegedly carrying out land fraud of Rs 21.40 lakh about a year ago. The police had arrested her husband who was also her accomplice in the fraud on December 23. The Dehradun senior superintendent of police Daleep Singh Kunwar said in a Press conference here on Tuesday that both the accused allegedly made a deal to sell land for Rs 34 lakh to the complainant Lokesh Mamgain in February last year. The complainant paid Rs 21.40 lakh in advance to both the accused but he later found out that the land’s documents are not in the name of either of the accused. The SSP said that the complainant registered a police complaint on February 26 against both accused but when the police arrived at their address in Premnagar, they had already escaped. He said that they both had also sold their house to somebody else. He said that the police continued to make efforts to arrest them by conducting raids at various locations but none of them could be nabbed by the police for about a year. He said that the court had also issued an arrest warrant for the absconding accused and the police announced a bounty of Rs 15,000 on their heads. He said that with the help of police surveillance and cyber networking, one of the two accused Sunil Kotnala was arrested from Goa on December 23. The police teams continued their search for his wife- Bala Kotnala and received a tip off that she would be visiting the district jail in Suddhowala to meet her husband on January 2. Acting on the tip off, the police arrested the wife from Jhajhra in Dehradun on Monday, said the SSP. She will be soon presented in court, added Kunwar.
