Light rain & thunderstorms likely in State on polling day today

The weather is set to take a turn on polling day with the State meteorological centre issuing a warning regarding the possibility of thunderstorms accompanied with lightning likely to occur at isolated places in all districts of the State today. Surface winds are likely to be strong and gusty (30-40 kmph) at isolated places in all the districts. Further, very light to light rain/thunderstorms are likely to occur at many places in Uttarkashi, Chamoli, Dehradun, Tehri, Haridwar and Pauri districts. Very light to light rain/thunderstorms are likely to occur at a few places in Pithoragarh, Almora, Bageshwar, Champawat, Nainital and Udham Singh Nagar.

The provisional State capital Dehradun is forecast to witness a partly to generally cloudy sky with possibility of thunder cloud development/light rain in some areas towards afternoon or evening. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be about 33 degrees Celsius and 20 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun today.

The maximum and minimum temperatures recorded on Thursday were 32.9 degrees Celsius and 18.4 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun, 35.6 degrees Celsius and 18.6 degrees Celsius in Pantnagar, 22.2 degrees Celsius and 10.5 degrees Celsius in Mukteshwar, 24.8 degrees Celsius and 12.8 degrees Celsius in New Tehri.
