Considering that Haridwar is a major stop on the Char Dham Yatra, special focus should be laid on sanitation in the city and Ganga Ghats. Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said this while chairing a meeting along with the Haridwar MP Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ to review development works and other issues on Sunday.

The Haridwar district magistrate Vinay Shankar Pandey informed that considering the Yatra work has been started on alternative arrangements like fixing times for entry of heavy vehicles and proper parking arrangements to prevent traffic congestion.

Dhami sought detailed information from the DM about various development schemes underway in the district and directed the officials to ensure that the benefit of the schemes reaches the last eligible person. Chaupals should be held periodically in Gram Sabhas and top priority should be accorded to resolving issues raised by villagers in such gatherings. Special focus should also be laid on electricity and water supply in view of the summer, he said. The CM directed officials to ensure that the benefit of subsidy schemes reaches the beneficiaries on time. Ration should be distributed on time to the cardholders under the scheme, he said.

Regarding the law and order situation, the DM and senior superintendent of police Ajai Singh informed Dhami that strict steps are being taken to ensure fair recruitment examinations without any malpractice. The Hanuman Jayanti events were also held peacefully without any untoward incident, they said.
