AAP raises issue of women’s security in State

The Aam Aadmi Party (APP) has raised questions about the police work on crime and law in Dehradun after the body of a woman was found in a high security area near Hathibadkala on Monday. The state coordinator of the party Jot Singh Bisht said that finding the body of a woman in a VVIP area where several big political leaders and ministers of the government reside forces one to question the safety of women living in other parts of the State.

He said that considering the condition of the body of the woman, she was possibly brutally assaulted before the murder. If this is the condition of a woman in the State’s capital, how police’s work of maintaining the law can be trusted, said Bisht. He said that continuous news of heinous crimes against women from across the country is heart-wrenching and similar cases are being observed in the State as well. “Most of these cases are being observed in states ruled by BJP. It clearly shows how BJP led government are incapable of providing safety to women,” added Bisht.
