SSP orders police to ensure roadsides remain encroachment free

Considering the improvement in the flow of traffic in Dehradun city due to removal of roadside encroachments for the Global Investors Summit, the police have decided to maintain a strict stance towards temporary roadside encroachments in the provisional State capital. Severe traffic congestion is one of the most prominent issues in Dehradun and roadside encroachment makes it worse, especially on main roads. Though the authorities claim to remove the encroachments from time to time, the roads are encroached upon again within a few days and sometimes within just hours. The authorities had removed these encroachments in view of the Global Investors Summit which has improved the traffic flow in Dehradun.

To ensure that the roads do not get encroached on again which will severely affect the traffic flow, the senior superintendent of police Ajai Singh has asked the police officials to ensure that the roads remain encroachment free in their respective areas. He said that strict action will be taken against the police station in-charge concerned and the circle officer if temporary encroachment is found in their respective areas. He asked them to take effective measures and coordinate with other departments concerned to ensure the encroachments do not occur again. Besides this, the police will continue to act against illegal encroachments across the district, the SSP added.
