PCC president terms new government of Maharashtra unconstitutional & undemocratic

The Uttarakhand Congress has accused the ruling BJP of using money and muscle power to plot the downfall of a democratically elected government in Maharashtra. The Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Karan Mahara said that the Congress party strongly condemns the manner in which the BJP tied up with the rebels of Shiv Sena to form government in Maharashtra. He said the new government of Maharashtra is unconstitutional and undemocratic and is formed by the murder of the sacred sentiments of constitution and democracy. Mahara expressed confidence that the people of the country would take note of the sins being committed by the BJP to grab power.

Mahara said that BJP has not taken any lesson from the verdicts of the courts on the issue and is moving forward with its heinous plans of plotting the downfall of the democratically elected governments.

The PCC president said that while BJP is acting in a despotic manner the Congress party has immense faith in the democracy and the party has a long history of establishing and safeguarding the constitutional bodies. He said that the President of India should take immediate cognizance of the political drama of Maharashtra and sack the government formed by unconstitutional methods.

Launching an attack on the BJP, former PCC president Pritam Singh said that whenever the party doesn’t get the mandate of people it deploys Enforcement Directorate (ED), Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and Income Tax against its adversaries and grabs the power. “We have seen this happen in Madhya Pradesh and Karnataka. They tried this in Rajasthan as well but were unsuccessful. This is now done in Maharashtra by the BJP,’’ he said.
