Health Dept seeks support of IMA in anti- TB drive

 The health department of Uttarakhand has sought the assistance of the Indian Medical Association (IMA) in giving an impetus to the Prime Minister’s TB Mukt Bharat Yojana (PM TBMBY). 

 On Monday the State nodal officer (TB) Dr Pankaj Singh held a meeting with the secretary general of Uttarakhand chapter of IMA, Dr DD Chaudhary. In the meeting, Dr Singh requested for the  active cooperation of IMA in the PM TBMBY , he also explained  the purpose and technical aspects of the said scheme in detail. “It is expected from IMA that the doctors of the private sector would serve the pivotal role in society and register themselves as a Nikshay Mitra and hope for cooperation with the state of Uttarakhand in achieving  the TB elimination objective,’’ he said. 

 Detailed discussions were held between the two on increasing the co-operation of private sector doctors in other thematic areas of Tuberculosis Control Program such as TB Notification, Treatment Outcome and others, which would lead to success in the field of TB elimination.   

 Dr Singh also stressed on the need to improve the TB indices with the mutual cooperation of the state and private sector so that the objective of TB elimination can be achieved.  The secretary general of IMA Uttarakhand Dr Choudhary assured the participation of private sector doctors in the tuberculosis control programme. He said that the IMA presidents of all the districts were instructed to make all possible efforts to cooperate with the Uttarakhand government in the Nikshay Mitra scheme.
