Government to table supplementary budget on first day

The winter session of the Uttarakhand Vidhan Sabha would commence from Tuesday in the Assembly building of Dehradun.  On the first day the State government would table the supplementary budget of about Rs 4,800 crore in the house. With the opposition in a belligerent mood on the issues of law and order and recruitment scams the winter session is expected to witness noisy exchanges.

On Monday the meeting of the business advisory committee of the assembly and the meetings of the legislature parties of both BJP and Congress was organised to discuss strategy and the agenda of the house. In the meeting of the business advisory committee chaired by the speaker Ritu Khanduri the business for the first day was decided. In this meeting a decision to table the supplementary budget at 4 PM on Tuesday was taken.

The meeting was attended by Parliamentary Affairs minister Prem Chand Agarwal, leader of opposition (LoP) in the Assembly Yashpal Arya, BSP leader Mohammad Shahzad and MLA Umesh Sharma ‘Kau’.  Interacting with the media persons after the meeting the speaker said that the agenda for the first day of the session was decided on Monday. She said that the members should raise issues in a peaceful manner and maintain the dignity of the house. She said that it is a matter of happiness that there are many young members in the house and they should participate in the proceedings in a dignified manner. The Vidhan Sabha secretariat has received about 600 questions for the upcoming session. Apart from the supplementary budget the government is expected to table some important bills in the house during the session.
