Dhami inaugurates Himalayan Basket venture

Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami unveiled Himalayan Basket, a commodity trading venture dealing in products of the Himalaya on Monday.  Addressing the programme held in Champawat in virtual mode on Monday, the CM said that the Himalayan Basket was started in the year 2018 by Sumit and Sneha. While Sumit is an engineer, Sneha is a marketing professional. He said that due to their roots in Uttarakhand both wanted to do something new to provide employment to local people. The CM said that after dwelling on different aspects of dairy and agriculture both decided to set up the Himalayan Basket. The duo purchases agricultural products such as turmeric, mint and milk from local people and supplies them to foreign destinations. They are providing direct employment to more than 200 people now.

 The CM said that Ghee and the milk product Churpi is in much demand. Churpi is a hard cheese made from cow milk and Sumit and Sneha have taken an initiative to produce it in Uttarakhand. The CM said that the state government has provided them with a horticulture cold store on lease. He said that the State government is committed to encourage those who want to work in this field. Dhami said that he wants to develop the Champawat district as a model for others. Under the model Champawat project we should ensure that all the products too are perfect, he said.

The district magistrate of Champawat Navneet Pandey and district BJP president Nirmal Mehra were present on the occasion.
