Upper part of four-storey house collapses, three injured

The upper part of a four-storey house on Monday collapsed in Nainital’s Haldwani due to the inclement weather causing serious injuries to three people. The officials said that due to unseasonal rain and storm in Haldwani, the upper wall and tin shed of a four-storey house in Haldwani’s Indira Nagar area fell on the adjacent house due to which three people got injured. The injured people have been identified as Shabina, Asifa and Shabnoor who reportedly got trapped under the tin shed, as per the officials. They said that the Haldwani city magistrate Richa Singh along with local police officials also reached the spot and sent the injured to the hospital.  They said that Singh issued a notice to the owner of the house Sajid Ali the same day and asked him to present the map of the house. Besides this, a large tree fell near Kathgodam roadways office in Haldwani due to a storm and a 70-year-old man got trapped under it. The officials said that the roadways employees rescued the man safely but the traffic remained affected it for some time in the area. The police were called to the spot that removed the tree from the road and resumed traffic there. The official said that strong storms and heavy rains occurred in many areas of Nainital district. Considering this, the police appealed to the locals, commuters and tourists to stay in a safe place. The police also asked people to not attempt to cross rivers and streams and immediately dial 112 for police assistance or inform the local police in any critical situation.
